EC3000 Installation and Operator’s Manual 71U-1409-300K; REV 20 Page 22 of 24
MG - This is the message command and is used if the operator wants to directly control the optional passenger display.
HOST command sequence: [STX]MG#P# A“data for line 1 up to 20 characters”[CR]
B“data for line 2 up to 20 characters”[CR][ETX]
Unit response: [STX]“HCTC”MGOK#P[ETX]
MG command rules:
1. A and B in the example above define line 1 and 2 respectively.
2. Each line may be changed independently, and may be sent in any order.
3. Line data shorter than 20 characters will cause the Unit to blank out the remaining characters.
4. Terminate each line with a [CR] character.
5. Use no more than 20 characters per line and only use printable characters (a-z; A-B; 0-9; exclamation
marks).
6. Once the host sends a valid MG command to the unit, all auto display messaging is turned off.
7. Units without the display option will still process valid MG commands and respond to the host.
8. Auto messaging may be turned back on if connection to the host system is lost and then re-established.
